Belles x Lyle's x Fried Chicken Party

This December we’ve got Kiwi legend Morgan McGlone of Belles Hot Chicken joining the Lyle’s team for two nights in the kitchen. Morgan’s take on Nashville-style fried chicken has gained a cult following across Sydney and Melbourne so we’re thrilled to introduce London to his winning combination of hot fried chicken and easy drinking, beautiful wines.

Morgan learned the secrets of the southern spices after years of cooking in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was Chef de Cuisine at Sean Brock’s HUSK restaurant. He moved back to Australia 5 years ago and opened Belles Hot Chicken in Melbourne, hunting down staff who cared about looking after people, playing music that made everyone feel good, built long-lasting relationships with winemakers and suppliers, not to mention the countless parties to celebrate all things good in life. Morgan has now opened a second Melbourne branch and one in Sydney as well.

For his dinner at Lyle’s, Morgan will be serving up Belles classics like Johnny Cakes, oysters with Belles hot sauce, family style birds (choose from the lightly seasoned ‘southern’ all the way up to their tear-jerking ‘Really F*cking Hot’ option), braised greens, mashed potato with chicken skin gravy and Belles pickles.

Our wine boss Nomi will be buying some special wines for the night. We’re looking for wines “made the way our ancestors made it, before mass machinery and chemicals were used” Morgan says, “Because the more processes you add in turning grapes into wine, the wider a chasm is created between the time and the place it was made. Natural wines reflect honesty and integrity, by great people who do interesting things, and we love the rich stories behind every bottle!”

Tickets to the Belles Hot Chicken x Lyle’s dinners are £45 for the set menu (drinks and service are not included). Priority tickets (Mastercard holders only) go on sale Monday 26th November at 4pm, and general release is Friday 30th November at 4pm. Tickets are available via lyleslondon.com
