The Guest Series with Ignacio Mattos
It was just a few months after Lyle’s opened in April 2014 that James first asked Ignacio to come and cook with him at the restaurant, but hectic schedules and new restaurant openings meant Ignacio’s trip to London kept being pushed back, until now. The Uruguayan chef is heading over to cook with James and his team on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd November.
Co-owner of estela, Café Altro Paradiso and Flora Bar, Ignacio learned to cook in the kitchens of grilling master Francis Mallman and Slow Food legend Alice Waters. At estela, he has earned acclaim for bold, Mediterranean-inspired cooking. With Café Altro Paradiso, Ignacio returns to Italian cuisine, which was his focus for several years as the chef at Il Buco. In Flora Bar at the Met Breuer, Ignacio draws inspiration from lively, approachable restaurants in New York and Europe.
Per New York Times critic Pete Wells: "[Ignacio’s] dishes are original and, in their way, simple, and it’s that combination that makes you want to give in to them.” In 2017, Ignacio received his third nomination for the James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York. At estela, Café Altro Paradiso and Flora Bar at the Met Breuer, Ignacio cooks food that is comforting and memorable, reflecting his varied experiences and the cultures of New York City, the city he now calls home.
James and Ignacio’s menu will be a collection of dishes based on the best produce available and some of his classics. Tickets are £65 per person excluding drinks.
Priority tickets are going on sale via MasterCard Priceless London on Monday 30th October at 4pm. Remaining tickets go on wide release on Friday 3rd November at 4pm.
